Through township and country she'd roam

 

She scanned every point of the compass

From Manchester, Wigan and Leigh

She even went south of the border

To Chester just south of the Dee

 

A four - bedroom semi in Stockport

A three - bedroom cottage in Sale

A newly built mansion in Wigan

For the price of a terrace in Hale

 

Obsessed with pictures of buildings

Whirling around in their heads

With show houses, outhouses, wash houses

Greenhouses, townhouses, sheds.

 

She has to find one by the summer

Or she could be feeling the heat

Her letting will come to finish

And she could be out on the street.

 

If she cannot find a replacement

Apartment of villa to rent

Then I'll have to come to her rescue

And offer the loan of a tent.
