Seventy
Never in my wildest dreams
When thinking way back when
See a date far in the future
When my age was three score ten.
I remember how I felt
When I was young and fit
Dashing round my world
Or running down the pit.
I recall when I was young
It was hard to comprehend
A time with aches and pains
When arms and knees don’t bend
When a weekly walk to Billinge
And back was all the rage
I’m now out of breath just standing
‘Cos that’s what comes with age.
Though sometimes I may stumble
And others I may fall
I still have my lovely family
To help me when I call.
