The Cold
Today I am feeling quite lousy
I'm suffering from what's called a cold
My body is aching and paining
In fact I am feeling quite old.
My head is all fuzzy and muzzy
My back and my chest's feeling tight
I've trouble getting up in the morning
I'm coughing and can't sleep at night.
My throat's feeling dry and it's burning
It is making my voice rather gruff
My eyes and my nose keep on running
With all of the usual stuff.
Last week I went out to the doctor
He listened and wrote me a note
`The cold, you will have to put up with
I'm giving you this for your throat'.
When I asked him what was the reason?
The story began to unfold
Although we are living in't nineties
A doctor can't cure a cold.
The only sure way to get better
Is to stand in the rain 'about a hat
Till the cold turns into pneumonia
Any doctor knows how to cure that.
