The Ghost Of Summer Past
I pray for summer weather
I pray for skies of blue
Take away the cold days
Make the rainstorms few.
Bring us back the sunny days
That we used to know.
In our days of childhood
Many years ago.
Walking in the countryside
Midst wheat of golden brown
Dancing in the gentle breeze
With the sunshine beating down.
Swimming in the river
Running barefoot in the park
Sweet solitude unbroken
But for the singing of the lark.
O God bring back those hazy days
Don’t leave them in the past
We’ve had six years of raining
So please God make it fast.
P.S.
Just one little thing, Lord
Though I may seem a fool
We’ve had five days of heatwave
Please God make it cool.
